Looking for Alaska is JG’s first novel and feels like one in some parts (momentum wise) but the protagonist is an earnest, loveable character and so are his friends. It’s not my favorite. I think Fault and Will Grayson are far better.

Boy did you catch my attention with that title as I (as of June this year) have – gasp! – 4 teenagers in the house! I have to say though, my 15-year old daughter who loved – LOVED – The Fault in Our Stars, didn’t much like any of his other books, including this one. Therefore I didn’t read any of them. A book she DOES love, however, and has tried to push on everyone in the house, is Code Name Verity. I don’t think it’s all that new but we just discovered it. Have you read that? If not, it’s another great YA novel that are very readable for adults as well.

I love good YA and haven’t read any John Green yet – need to correct that oversight! But meanwhile, how does one pronounce “bae”? Is it initials or a word and where in the world does it come from?
