Wow, you’ve outdone yourself, Jennifer. And as much as I loved your post, I immediately felt this nagging that I’ve now got to put at least some of these on my calendar – there goes the “quiet” September I had been looking forward to now that kids are finally out the house again every morning.

Interesting review of Purity. I just read the NY Times book review about it and it was kinder but also not gushing. Read the Corrections way back when it came out and wasn’t too thrilled. It’s one of those books they tell you you need to read because it’s a good book, but I really didn’t like it much. No likeable characters, so entirely hopeless, and I couldn’t really get into the plot. Couldn’t even tell you what it was about. So personally I think I’ll add Franzen to my Hemingway pile. But as you said, might be v intriguing to hear him speak. Thank you for all the work you’ve done to bring us this!
