Seems to me that a great deal of how we handle grief and loss in a community is colored by how each member witnessed rituals around loss while growing up. It took me reading a book by Corrine Chilstrom, "Andrew You Died Too Soon," about the death of her college aged son to reconsider how I was "raised" to interact with those grieving. I knew I did not have it entirely "right" as a younger adult, but was not sure what I was missing or afraid of or why. After all, I was mirroring behaviors (some very generational) I had seen - like respecting the feelings of relatives that never spoke of losses that occurred before I was born (by never mentioning or asking about them). Chilstrom's book is wonderful and I highly recommend it for many lessons on supporting those suffering a death in their family, particularly a death from suicide. I think it would be a good read after Option B (or before).

As a hospice volunteer I have leaned that grief affects folks in different ways.No one size fits all because all are different and face various circumstances going forward; depending on support from family and friends, financial circumstances, length of relationship, parent in loss of child, faith support etc.
Joining a grief group better than most books., although books can be helpful.
