Insight Timer is another great app and tool. You can decide how long to meditate, and there are categories such as stress and anxiety, recovery and healing, creativity, etc. Or, you can just have a background music or silence. When you finish your meditation, it shows you how many thousands of people worldwide were meditating with you. You can mark your favorites to return to at another time. I love that so many are finding this practice beneficial to quiet the "noise" of modern life. Thank you for this post!

I am still chuckling over your thoughts on your adventures with meditation. They also serve as wonderfully candid comments on trying something new. Isn't it interesting that breathing, something we do most of the time without thinking about it, is so full of possibility and peace? Thanks, Mary!

It's an inspiring piece, for sure! And Caroline, I bet you're like Mary - reading more about it would almost certainly help! I look forward to comparing notes! xo

Mavis will be so pleased that you focused on her. I'm not sure if it's her meditation practice or her habit of sleeping 20 hours a day that keeps her on the level. Hugs to you always!

I’ve been dabbling in meditation (with the Headspace app) - about 10 minutes a day (most days) for a month or so with some office-mates. I keep feeling like I’m not quite getting it right, but this inspires me to keep trying and maybe to do some more reading!

This is so helpful! I really like this, and that in Mary's explanation of her attempts to meditate she tried and didn't quite get it then tried again and again. She makes it clear you have to find what works for you. For me, I had to find a place that was conducive. That was the most important.
