Loved this essay: “Their willingness to let me in on their struggle to find some truth behind the chaos of living.”

Recently I read and re-read and pressed into others’s hands “Pigs Can’t Swim” by Helen Peppe.

And one that I turn to frequently to gauge my decisions as a parent is “Little Heathens” by Mildred Kalish. Like Maria says, “common experience is not the ground of my communion” with Mildred or her book. It’s something else–how our experience can be so different but these human qualities and ambitions we share transcend all that.

“Hold Still” is awesome. The best book of 2015. Sally Mann rules. I currently am reading George Clinton’s memoir, “Brothas Be, Yo Like George, Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You?” George, of course, also rules.
