Really nice book review Aunt Louis. It's reassuring to know we can only do our best with the cards we are dealt, but if we are lucky we have the ability to make changes to best fit our needs and our families needs. As my dad said, good luck in the election- and congratulations on being featured here too!

This is a fascinating post which makes so much sense to me even though it examines a topic I had not previously considered. It reminded me of the flood in Nashville in 2010 and how my neighborhood was cut off from the main roads and from external communication because of the loss of electricity and cell phone service. Forced outdoors, neighbors exchanged what little information they had of the outside world and began grilling meat that might otherwise spoil. What could have felt really scary turned into something more akin to a block party and emphasized the points you make here: we're social creatures who've isolated ourselves to our own detriment.
