I love the idea of using the special stuff all the time. 20 years ago, when my dad died and people came to visit and help, someone sweetly made tea for the house full of our dearest friends. But I was so conditioned, I steered her away from the “good” tea cups. I think I even may have said, “That’s just for for special occasions!” What???!!! Every day with friends and family and Diet Coke is a special occasion!

Hi Emily! I’m so delighted to hear from you! And to hear about your trip to Newport. When I am not worried or fearful, I think - what interesting times we live in. Xoxo

We also had the pleasure of flying over Memorial Day weekend - to Newport,RI. The airports and flights were wonderful. The strangest part of the trip was watching the caution and reliving the hesitation and apprehension of the local population as the island (zero coronavirus deaths on the island) began to open. Quarantine for out of state travelers had been lifted the day before we arrived. Part of our family flew back from the trip but two daughters and I drove the contents of a dorm room home. To break up the trip, we spent the night in Alexandria,, VA. The hotel had just fifteen rooms occupied. It was remarkable to witness firsthand, over the course of a few days, the reactions of a local populations to the very beginnings of a reopening, a still shutdown environment, and then, thankfully, to be back in Nashville.
