“And when we give each other Christmas gifts in his name, let us remember that he has given us the sun and the moon and the stars, and the earth with its forests and mountains and oceans – and all that lives and moves upon them. He has given us all green things and everything that blossoms and bears fruit and all that we quarrel about and all that we have misused – and to save us from our foolishness, from all our sins, He came down to earth and gave us himself.” – Sigrid Undset, Christmas and Twelfth Night (1934)
(Undset won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1928 for her epic medieval novels including Kristin Lavransdatter).

When daughter Eleanor was, maybe, eight, she found somewhere and copied this beautiful piece onto a sheet of notebook paper, decorating it as an eight year old artist might, and gave it to her mother and me for Christmas. Every Christmas now, for roughly a half century, it comes out and gets carefully taped to a library shelf. It says it all.
Wishing your readers and YOU a blessed Christmas.
I absolutely love that this is part of your Christmas, John!! Sending very warmest wishes and love to you and yours. Xoxo
Merry Christmas to you and yours Jennifer!
